Luca Mazzei received the PhD degree in Information Technology at the Information Engineering Department of the University of Parma, in 2012. His thesis concerning computer vision applications based on fixed and mobile cameras. He received the master degree "cum laude" in information engineering curriculum Robotics and Automation from the University of Parma, Parma, Italy, in 2008. His master thesis concerning artificial intelligence and computer vision. The title of the thesis is: Design and Development of a Pedestrian Detection System based on Weak Adaboost Classifiers with Ad-hoc Features.
He worked as research engineer at VisLab, a spinoff company of Parma University.
His researches were mainly focused on computer vision and artificial intelligence algorithms for automotive applications and video surveillance.
He worked as research engineer at DISMI (Dipartimento di Scienze e Metodi dell'Ingegneria), University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
His research were focused on computer vision applied to mobile robotics.
He worked for 3 years as postDoc scientist and research engineer at ISMAR, the Institute of Marine Science of the CNR, National Research Council of Italy.
His researches were focused on autonomous underwater vehicles and oceanographic instrumentations applied to the study of oceanic basins
He was the glider pilot for the ISMAR - CNR. His researches were also focused on computer vision, machine learning and 3D reconstruction of underwater scene applied to marine environment.
